--- La Caterdal Club - DJ: Tango - this unassuming venue (you need to climb up the stairs to find the place) opens up into a huge dance hall with two rooms. At one point in the night, there may be a live performance, but it's not as good as the canned tunes that keep the people moving. It is a mix of both locals and tourists, but it is an institution with awesome art on the walls and an amazingly large decoupage heart in the main room.

- Salta

--- XXXX- Live Music: Pena - in Salta, Pena music - which literally translates to Rock - is commonly found with a live band and dancers. The music sounds more like traditional South American music with a heavy focus on the acoustic guitar.  Unfortunately, I was here on Christmas so didn't get a chance to sample too many places, but near this place there are many Pena shows. There are also pricey Pena shows, but we heard they aren't worth it, so best to just walk around in the XXX neighborhood and listen in to a few bars before settling into one. There isn't a cover at many of these places, per se, but they did tend to charge a higher Cubierto than other places. Cubierto is the customary extra charge added to the bill for dining out in Argentina.
