2 1/2 days in... Medellin, Colombia

For years, Medellin was the most dangerous city in the world due to Pablo Escobar's takeover of the city and turning into his drug cartel's hub. Since then, the city has tried hard to shake that association and be seen in its own light - a funky, hip, modern city that is focusing on helping residents from anywhere in the city to get where they need to go with a huge gondola or cable car lines or the subway. The residents are so proud of the subway that they keep it spotless and treat it with a huge amount of respect.
Day 1: Definitely do the Real City Walking Tour, this is an insightful 2.5 - 3 hour tour that goes through many of the main areas of the city. They have a number of available times, but you need to sign up ahead of time. If you do this in the morning, now go get some lunch. GRUB: for lunch,
Night 1: Go out bar hopping in Poblano. Must likely you'll be staying here (I stayed at the Purple Monkey hostel, a decent hostel that is rather clean and has a good bar crawl on Thursday nights), and there is a plenty of bars in the area. Since so much is in walking distance
Day 2: Comuna 13 visit - this was one of the most dangerous areas of Medellin and is now one of the most colorful... it's now covered in beautiful graffiti. Now, you can visit it either on your own on through a tour. I did it on my own, but heard Zippy Tour does a good tour. From here, take the
